Raw vegan brownies

Recipes - Raw vegan brownies

A delicious recipe adapted after the one of Craig B. Sommers. These brownies are definitely different from the baked ones, they are softer and moister, but equally good, maybe even better for the ones who prefer creamier textures. You will enjoy them fresh, but they actually get even better after a day or two in the fridge, because all the ingredients and nut oils mix better. Enjoy!

  • 2 cups walnuts
  • 2 cups dates
  • ¼ cups cacao powder

Second layer:

  • 4 bananas
  • ½ cup honey or agave nectar
  • ¼ cup cacao powder
  • 4 tablespoons coconut butter or coconut oil (I used fresh coconut pulp mixed with a bit of coconut milk)
  • teaspoon vanilla extract
  • salt
  • cinnamon

Directions for Raw vegan brownies

Step 1: Put all the base ingredients in a mixer (walnuts, dates, cocoa) and mix well. You will have a crumbly and wet paste. Place it in a pan and press well with palms to spread it evenly.
Step 2: Mix well the ingredients for the next layer by using a blender. You’ll have a creamy cake mixture that you’ll have to pour on top of the base. Spread it evenly. Place it in the freezer for an hour or in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Step 3: Remove from fridge and cut cake in the pan. You can decorate with almonds that were kept in a bowl of water overnight to hydrate, mixed with dry cranberries. Enjoy!
