A traditional recipe that will take you back to the childhood years.


For the dough:

  • 300 ml water
  • 250 g wheat
  • 50 g wheat bran
  • 50 g oatmeal
  • 100 g white flour
  • 10 g dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oil

For the filling:

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 1 / 2 clove garlic
  • salt and pepper
  • 50 g butter 

Directions for Potato cakes

Step 1: Make the dough. Dissolve yeast in warm water mixed with sugar. Then mix bran flour and salt. Pour the dissolved yeast in the middle and the remaining water. Knead an elastic, slightly sticky dough. During kneading add constantly oil. Allow the dough to double its size.

Step 2: Boil potatoes in salted water, without peeling them. When cooked (check with fork), remove and pass them under running cold water, then peel their skin. Place them in a bowl and crush them, then add butter, garlic, salt and pepper to taste.

Step 3: Then divide dough into small pieces and spread them in thin sheets on the floured. Put the filling on one half of the dough, cover with other half and glue the edges ungreased pressing with your fingers. Fry them in ceramic pot, over small fire, keeping it covered with a lid.

They are very good hot or cold. Enjoy!
