These traditional Romanian pancakes will definetely win you over!


  • pancakes
  • 500 g cottage cheese
  • a handful of raisins soaked in rum essence
  • 200 g cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • one sachet vanilla sugar with rum
  • 50 g butter

Directions for Pancakes from Banat

Step 1: Use ready-made pancakes filled with a mixture of cheese and raisins soaked in rum essence. Grease a jena bowl with butter, place the stuffed pancakes inside, pour mixture over the yolks, add cream and 3 tablespoons brown sugar. Sprinkle thin strips of butter, then place on top a white foam consisting of whipped egg whites with remaining sugar (3 tablespoons).

Step 2: Place the bowl in the oven, leaving the door slightly open. When yolks and the sauce harden and the egg foam is slightly, turn off the heat. Serve hot. Enjoy!
